74 liters in belgium?????

Messagepar amolines » Jeu Août 16, 2012 12:23 am

Hi guys, i´m moving my windsurf stuff from spain to belgium, and i would like to know
which are the most used volumes for boards arround here, because i´m changing all my stuff.
It´s possible sail some day with 74 liters over here?????
How many strong are the winds in spring, summer, etc .......
Thanks guys!!!!

Based on a 75kg weight, 75L would be an all-rounder and 90L a nice backup. We'd need to know your weight. :)

Ops! Sorry for the lapsus, my weight is 74 Kg.
What i wanted to ask, is if the wind here is strong enough for 74 liters and 4.2 for instance .....(some days of course)

Sure, often. Especially in autumn.

if he plans to surf at belgium coast :D

it depends too, on weither he plans for a unique board or not

74L may be a little bit small as unique board as wind is often around 20kts (for me, I would go for a thruster 80L, 4.2->5.4)

but if it is only for stronger winds (> 25kts) 74L can do the job =D

He plans on sailing at sea and owns 74, 85 and 102L FSW boards. Everything's gonna be ok. ^^

Right now I have 74,85,102, but the idea is keep the 74, and change the others for 96, because i don't like
to sail with sails bigger than 6.5 meters.
In spain, especially in winter, and sometimes in summer, we have winds about 30 knots, and then is when I really enjoy my 74 liters, but i have no clue how strong are the winds here or in Zealand.
This year i'm planning to renew my stuff, and how i'm moving here definitively, i don't want to buy the wrong equipement.
Any help will be wellcome guys!

Thanks

It should be a good idea to have something over 120l and a 7.5m² sail ;)
I most often use a 134l board and 7.4 or 8.5 but I'm around 90kg Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_42

I guy,

I have the same feeling as you for the boards and the sails. I have two boards 84 and 102L and my biggest sail is 6.3!! ...
In the north, weather is quite colder than in spain. If you are not trained to practice windsurf in cold conditions, windsurfing after the end of october or mid november and before mid april become difficult. Nevertheless, in the north sea, you can have big storm in autumn and spring and 74l board is nice. Other wise you may more use 85 or 102L.

To conclude, if you have all your materiel now, 74-85-102L my advertise is to bring them all in belgium and then after a year to adapt you materials.

see you on the water.

there are many people here on the forum who are living in the area of Wavre or louvain-la-Neuve.
you will probably share the car to discover the different spot.
Personally I like to go to Zeeland ( south part or netherland) on the spot called Brouwersdam!!
It is a famous windsurf spot here.
Another nice area is Wissant in the north of France.
In the belgian cost, there are too many buildings for me.

Ciao

For sure there are three things you'll have to buy to sal up here

A 5/6 dry suit, gloves and a neoprene balaclava :h

For the spots, as most of us, go in Holland (Zeeland)

Same distance for the closest ones

And even if Brouwersdalm is at 170km from Brussels, it's 1 hours shorter than the Belgian cost
